Custom car fragrance development

Develop a Scent for a Defined Car Fragrance Product

A signature scent sets a range apart and keeps customers loyal to your refills. Custom car fragrance development starts from your brand and your product: the scent you want people to recognize, the format it will live in, and the price it has to fit. We work with experienced fragrance houses to create candidate scents, then evaluate them on the actual car product until one is right.

What a scent brief includes

Seven lines that shape the scent

Your brief describes a direction, and the result is an original composition created for your brand.

Matching the scent to the carrier and budget

Each carrier brings out different sides of a fragrance. A complex, perfume-like scent shines in a glass diffuser, while bright, clean accords suit paper and gel. We match the composition to your format and budget at the brief stage, so every candidate is ready to perform on your product.

Evaluation and stability

Judged in the car, checked on the format

A scent is chosen the way customers will meet it: in the cabin, over days, in real driving conditions.

  • Blind evaluation

Coded samples without names, so expectations do not bias the result. Smell them in the car over several days, in warm cabins, with air conditioning, on short and long drives, and involve a few people from your target audience.

  • Compatibility and stability

The approved fragrance is checked on the chosen format for color change, clarity in gel and liquids, effect on plastics and seals, and how the scent holds over time. Results guide the final fragrance amount.

  • Formula and document versions

Each approved fragrance has a reference code and version. Any adjustment for a new market, a new carrier or a raw material change becomes a new version, re-sampled and re-approved, with updated documents.

Ownership and confidentiality

A fragrance developed for your brand is reserved for your products. Formula details remain with the fragrance house, as is standard in the fragrance industry, while your exclusivity and supply arrangements are set out in writing. Briefs and samples are treated as confidential.

One reference across your range

Your signature scent is used across your range, in refills, sprays and new formats, under one reference, so every product smells the same.

Scent development FAQ

Scent development questions

How many candidate scents will we see?

A focused set of coded candidates per round, all built from your brief and tested on your chosen format.

Can you create a car version of our home fragrance?

Yes. We develop the car version in the direction of your signature and refine it on the car carrier until it is recognizably yours.

Can the same scent run across several formats?

Yes. One fragrance reference can be adapted for paper, vent clips, diffusers and sprays, so the whole range smells consistent.

What documents come with the final fragrance?

A safety data sheet and IFRA conformity documentation from the fragrance supplier, matched to the approved version and product use.
